This year I came back to electronic music a bit, partly by making some surprising new discoveries, partly remembering old ones. Most of the music is great for moving / dancing. I'll gladly give you a little tour if you're curious :)

Nodens Ictus

Duo from UK (father and son) on synthesizers, also active as a part of Ozric Tentacles. I got specially amazed by the organic feeling of their (electronic) music, their calm, but energetic drums, rhythms and beautiful synth sounds. The music feels wonderfully free to me, a good example where you can take electronic music if you break out of patterns and genres. Both "Chickens in the mist" and "Swoop Bong" are my favourites.

Carbon Based Lifeforms

Duo from Sweden sampling sounds and painting timbres in pads and rhythms. The Derelicts album is a journey through playful innocence, dance, amazement and space. I especially like how they use a bit of spoken word to create an ambiance.

Amethystium

I keep coming back to his music which I already love since my teens. A really unique style of building elaborate songs and melodies around a powerful simplicity. A variety of rhythms, innocent sounds, a beautiful energy, led by the synth flute sound (first albums), singing voice (Isabliss) or the Norwegian Harding fiddle (Transience). Some songs you need to hear twice to understand where they want to take you.

Schiller

Our dreams, our desires - and colourful aspirations - need to be taken seriously. Treated with importance. If you push them aside, you suppress what's best in you - and end up an empty man.

Electronic Chillout / Pop music from Germany. He has quite an outlet and uses to explore in various directions. I'm not into everything he makes but some of these explorations are awesome, and I really enjoy his sound signature and the energy in his music. I also like how he blended spoken quotes and poems into his albums back in the days.

Shaped signs

Duo from Germany combining Rock music and Chillout. I know them from the myownmusic.de website and they clearly deserve some attention on their music. I love the ambiances they establish (Rainland), their guitar melodies, the transitions in their songs balancing between wish for harmony and weird energy. I also really like their sound / mixdown and often take their songs as orientation.
