Minor scale, beginners, intuitive, courses

D / A Bb C D E F G A C (10 notes)

Common D Minor scale often used in handpan courses. It's very close to the D Celtic Minor and both scales can be played well together. The D/A Kurd has the notes of the full diatonic D Minor (Aeolian) scale. The Celtic Minor uses the same notes, but skips the 6th of the scale (the Bb) and adds the octave (high D) at the end instead. For my feeling, the Celtic Minor is a little more intuitive to play / to learn and also nice to improvise on easy melodies and rhythmic patterns while the Kurd is more flexible for composing / playing different melodies and chords.

.

For comparison:

D / A Bb C D E F G A C (D/A Kurd)

D / A C D E F G A C D (D Celtic Minor)
