---- creating a mobile game ----
The Demon Hunters project is a GPS multiplayer RPG. Imagine an elaborate dark fantasy version of Ingress / Pokemon Go, requiring players to walk around in town to visit points of interest where they perform actions on their phone.
---- setting -----
The player plays a hero, gathering a squad of other heroes to fight the demons that are invading this world via portals from the Otherworld. The demons are invisible for the population but perform their bad influence by manipulating and consuming the emotions of the people, so it is up to the brave chosen people playing the game to take care of that. In the past, angels guarded this world but they are merely a legend now. But the Otherworld portals are also used by a few audacious elves and fairies who will, hopefully, support the humans.

----- game play ----
The player can choose to play a human, an elf or a demon. Depending on their choices in the game, the player's squad gains either glory or fear. This influences the way that creatures or traders react with them. Like in a classic RPG, heroes will find / craft equipment and train skills. Special is that creatures can also join the squad and take the position of a hero.

Players will be on their own (with their squad) in low levels, encountering creatures on the streets and gathering materials to improve their home base and to craft equipment. The kind of creatures they encounter depends on the environment they move in, taken from the real world map, and will be different f.e. in town, in the forest or close to water. The game will generate way points, traders, hideouts and portals on the map that allow to access areas of the underground and sky.
In higher levels, players unlock functions to interact with other players - to leave candles with messages on the map, to join a local guild and to set up a guild base.

The game evolves around creating, equipping and training the squad and finding interesting creatures. It has a dark and mysterious ambience. It has no animations and the map and graphics will be pencil sketches which evoke the spirit of an old pen & paper rpg, leaving much room to imagination.
The project is on hold at the moment (because I'm working on other projects which I'm equally passionate about). It's an ambitious project with many technical challenges to be solved, but I'm looking forward to throw myself into it again :)
